How long until Scott Co. is consolidated?

I wouldn't mind much having to share a school with RC, but with Gate City?!? Never.

I think it will be a long time if ever. Theres just not the road infrastructure there to make it happen. I remember a lot of people talking when I was in middle school saying this years senior class would see consolidation, but that never happened as you can tell. Going to 2 schools would be the closest option, but I still dont see it. Scott is too spread out. Theres kids now that bus well over an hour to get to RC. If they do build a new school without consolidation I see RC turning into Duffield. If they go to two schools they will have to position on in Midway and the other around Speers Ferry maybe a little closer to GC.

That makes sense, I hear people saying all kinds of different things about it though. Hopefully it never happens. It's TS turn to have a 58 year winning streak over RC in football lol...

How long was that streak though..You said it started with you right?

It started in the fall of 96, so 12 straight wins. I went 3-1 against TS in football on varsity. The only loss coming TS's 10-0 year and we about pulled the upset that day if it wasn't for Bays.


I will give Scott County some credit, RC and GC are quite a few years older than TS, but overall the county has kept improving the schools to where they are in a lot better position at their current time than what Wise County is. All have HVAC systems, and high speed internet, and all the tools more or less have been given to them to succeed on the education side. RC has done a lot of improvements to their sports facilities the past few years which hopefully will help in the long term.

The one gripe I had was that when they built these two new gyms for TS and RC, they should have either tried building the smaller gym at the Intermediate school, or since they built it in Duffield, it would have been nice to have a large gym so that tourney and such could be hosted. But it is better than nothing in this day and age.

I was going to say that about the gyms if you didn't. It wasn't really needed, and it can't be used for much at all. A gym similiar to Castlewood's or even the one at Clinchco would have been nice.

I will agree though, Scott County schools overall are pretty dang good. If I'm not mistaken, all three high schools are accredited.

They are and generally rank at the top of SOL scores in SWVA. TS's gym at least has a lot more seating than RC's, and TS uses their new gym for volleyball games now. A scoreboard wasn't even placed in RC's new one.
